- Staff Psychologist
Coordinator of Testing
Sean was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and received his B.A. in psychology from Yale University. He received his M.S. in school psychology and Psy.D. in Clinical-Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, which was affiliated with the same hospital in which he was born. Realizing that it was time for a geographic change, Sean headed south for internship at Towson University’s Counseling Center and then up to New England to do a post-graduate internship at Tufts University Counseling and Mental Health Service. Indeed, Sean is passionate about university mental health. His counseling approach is mainly client-centered, narrative, and strengths-based, but he is also inspired by feminist, existential, cognitive-behavioral, and self-psychological approaches. Since erroneously believing that only girls could chew gum (and being corrected by his parents) at the age of 3, Sean has been very interested in gender. In fact, his doctoral dissertation explored the experiences of transgender identity among adults and he has provided counseling to transgender undergraduate students. While Sean has counseled a wide variety of students, he is developing concentrations in working with first-generation college students, persons who are experiencing family conflict, individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one or pet. During leisure time, Sean enjoys reading memoirs and other works of nonfiction, creative writing, seeing friends, trying new restaurants, playing trivia, and listening to music, especially if it takes place at a concert.
