Caitlin Shepherd has spent most of her life living in the northeastern region of the United States. She grew up in Pennsylvania and also spent time living in Connecticut and Maine before landing in New York to pursue her undergraduate degree.  She received her B.A. in Psychology in 2006 from Skidmore College and upon graduation, began working as a counselor in the domestic violence field.  In 2007, Caitlin began her doctoral training in Counseling Psychology at Colorado State University (CSU). While at CSU, Caitlin provided therapeutic services to college students in a variety of settings including the integrated University Health Network, the Learning Assistance Program and the drug and alcohol treatment program. In addition to her work on the CSU campus, Caitlin gained clinical experience at a community mental health center and an intensive eating disorder treatment center. Caitlin has also served the college student population in a teaching role, instructing courses in introductory psychology, abnormal psychology and the psychology of women. Caitlin takes an integrative approach to therapy with a strong emphasis on interpersonal and feminist frameworks, which focus on how relationships and societal contexts shape individuals. Caitlin has experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds facing a broad range of concerns including interpersonal problems, adjustment and identity issues, academic troubles, coping with trauma, anxiety, mood disturbance, and alcohol and drug abuse. She also has developed a strong interest in assisting clients struggling with body dissatisfaction and eating disorders. When she’s not working, Caitlin enjoys doing ballet and yoga, hiking and visiting friends and family.
